Grow Our Own

Updated: Jun 29, 2020

It is important to grow our own. Since why are you can try any fruit and veg that you've never had before, it will reduce your food waste, it is better for the climate change and the environment, it's fun and your food will be fresh. These are just a few reasons but also the most important.

We researched about what fruit and veg would grow at this time of year. For example, Grapes, melons, green beans, and potatoes are some of the some of the vegetables that are in season now.

To prepare for growing our own fruit and vegetables we had to get all the weeds out of the vegetable beds. Nikki Stubbs, Sasha Nash, and Olivia Hamilton helped us with weeding the beds.

However, a few weeks after we had planted the seeds in the veg beds and some in some pot’s lockdown started so we had to find a way of looking after the seeds while we were in lockdown. Our solution was that all of us took home some seeds and Mrs Wells, our teacher, and her family looked after the beds at school.

Back in early March we all planted lots of seeds and seedlings and created an amazing 'grow our own' plot. We learned a lot of news skills.
